The Microsoft Flow User Group is just days away from launching and we're exited that you're eager to be part of the new group to connect with others and be leaders in the community. Our aim is to create a community that will help members grow their knowledge and network. Please take a minute to introduce yourself to the group. Tell us a little bit about yourself, what made you join, and what are some of things that you are interested in exploring in Microsoft Flow?

    Hi everyone,

My name is Daniel Laskewitz and I am from the Netherlands! I work for Sogeti as a Business Productivity Consultant and in that role, I started working with Microsoft Flow. It even led to me being a Microsoft MVP! Aside from work I really like to go to the matches of my favorite football (soccer) club: Ajax Amsterdam!

I think it's really great to see Flow User Groups appearing all over the world because I am convinced the lives of lots of people would be easier with Flow in their lives. I hope lots of you will get to learn much more about Microsoft Flow at the Flow User Group meetings and I hope to meet many of you!

If you want to know more about me or read up about Flow, make sure to follow me on Twitter, connect to me on LinkedIn or read my blog!

    Hi everyone,

Tell us a little bit about yourself - I currently work on the National team for Bog Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, helping to manage the Dynamics 365 system for 106-ish local agencies spread all across Canada. I am relatively new to this role and to Dynamics, having started here in November 2017. Prior to that, the last 12 years of my career had been in charities and non-profits in Canada working with Blackbaud CRM products, specifically Raiser's Edge and Altru. Blackbaud makes CRM and donor management systems exclusively to the non-profit sector.

This has been a wonderful adventure because its been a long time since I came in with such a relatively small amount of technical knowledge, and learning at such a fast pace has been really refreshing.

Yesterday was my 20th wedding anniversary, and my wife and I have 4 kids. I ride motorcycles and play guitar, but not at the same time.

I joined the user group after hearing about it's launch during the Flow session @Daniel Laskewitz delivered earlier this week. WE don;t actively use Flow in our work at the moment, but it's clearly a tool we need to get knowledgeable about as we start to plan out functionality improvements after our upgrade to v9.0 is complete in a few weeks.

I am really interested in learning a lot of the foundational elements of how Flow does what it does, as opposed to just diving into building them. I want to know WHY it works, and does what it does, so I have a better understanding of its capabilities, and try to be a bit innovative. This is hopefully going to help when our team is discussing the automation of business processes, and muse about what is possible to do.

In general I am a big fan of the idea that any consistently repeatable manual task can and should be automated, and Flow is going to get us a long way toward that goal. That means less time for staff fighting with technology, and more time serving kids in their local communities.

    Yay!! This is so exciting!
I'm so looking forward to sharing and learning from fellow Flow enthusiast.

A little about me - As an early adopter of PowerApps, Flow and Power BI, l have first hand experienced the growth of these products. With over a decade of technology experience for both on-premises and online, my current and primary focus has been the integration of these products with SharePoint, SQL, Cognitive Services, One-Drive & Social Media. As an MVP, I work directly with the Product teams giving them feedback and testing the new features. Finally, I am a huge proponent of sharing knowledge and hence you'll see me blogging regularly and making them available in the PowerApps, Flow and Power BI Microsoft Online and now this community!

    Hi there!
I am very much into Flow and PowerApps, but sometimes struggle with it being presented as the "no-code option" for automation.  I would like to expand my toolkit and learn how others are using it, and I would like to help spread the word about Flow and using it to help do new and interesting (and meaningful) things.

I'm looking forward to watching this group develop and will help out wherever needed.

    Hello everyone,
This is Mehdi, I'm a MCT localized in Algeria and focused on end user's tools and apps. In my opinion, Power BI, including Excel Power tools, and MS Flow are the two majors Microsoft apps (tools) oriented to the end user that have been introduced these few last years.
I'm really excited about Flow's capabilities and its appeared simplicity; Looking forward to learn more from the community and share with you my little experience with this app.

    Hi, all!

I'm very excited about the PowerApps and Flow user groups!

I've loved "citizen development" for years, ever since implementing SharePoint and its custom lists and workflows in my manufacturing business in 2007. So when PowerApps and Flow were released a couple years ago, I naturally was very interested, and began presenting sessions about both tools at SharePoint Saturdays and user groups.

My "day job" is as Global Partner Manager for Lightning Tools, which provides (awesome) SharePoint tools and web parts; I've been there since January 2012, previously as Tech Support Manager. But on the side, I enjoy learning more about PowerApps and Flow, helping out in the community forums, speaking at and attending events, and showing others how to take advantage of what SharePoint and these tools have to offer.

I'm originally from Pittsburgh, but my husband and I "went nomad" in October 2015, selling our house, cars, and pretty much everything else to travel the world. I'm currently in northern Germany, but my location is usually dependent on family or SharePoint events, house sitting gigs, or wherever we feel like exploring. I'll likely be joining multiple physical UGs, so I can attend when I'm in that area :-)

Hope to meet many of you in real life somewhere in the world!

I'm really looking to use Flow to automate tasks I have to do in IT on a regular basis,, such as adding new users, removing users, adding users to Dynamics NAV, etc. I'm also looking for ways to push and pull data to/from Dynamics NAV as well.

I enjoy the NAVUG Community and all of the content there. I'm looking forward to interacting with this group and learning more from the Flow experts here.

    Hello Fellow Pro'ers!

    My name is Kristie Cronic,

Just recently within the last year have become pretty acquainted with Flow, and MS PowerApps (I love building stuff!). My background is software engineering, and testing, but I was offered the opportunity to take on SharePoint for my organization. I love it. It's great to be able to build stuff in days instead of months, sometimes years... I am loving learning more about business processes, and operations, and hope to be able to learn more and share as I grow in this new path. :)

I'm Eric. I'm a HR Technology Analyst working for Disney. I am decidedly NOT a developer, however I've gotten quite proficient at using VBA to develop light applications, aka "finding unique ways to use Excel that the designers probably never intended."

Flow, for me, is another tool that I can use to improve processes, and automate repeatable tasks whenever possible.

Looking forward to collaborating with other folks and learning new things. (And if you need Disney trip planning advice, I can probably help with that too. No, I can't get you free tickets :))

At my firm I'm required to wear many hats but I'd say my position closely aligns with that of a Business Systems Analyst. I work closely with key stakeholders to find inefficiencies or to find software that can help them do their jobs more effectively and then I lead the project to implement said software.

I have used flow sparingly as I have more focus on PowerApps but I am excited to learn more about Flow and see all the great uses there are for it.

    Greetings All,

While new Flow, I have been exploiting SharePoint for a number of years and understand that Flow is kind of a replacement for parts of SharePoint Designer (at least as far as workflows are concerned).  I constructed my entire QMS using SP and need to learn more about flow.  Additionally I have some upcoming projects where I will need to learn more about Flow and Power BI to create some dashboard reporting.  Not an IT guy and will be looking for some assistance in learning how to put this stuff together and make things easy for my organization.

All comments and ideas are welcome.

I am a Microsoft MVP in Business Applications: Flow - recently gain notoriety by using Flow to solve all my problems as the Flow Ninja, building https://FlowStudio.app to help me (and you!).

I frequently present at user groups, SharePoint Saturday, SharePoint Conference events around Australia, and helps out at the Sydney SharePoint usergroup.

I am actively looking for a partner in crime to start FlowUG in Sydney.

I am a independent consultant working with SharePoint, Power BI, Office 365 and Flow.  I live in Carlsbad California and I've been in the Internet, Web Development, SharePoint and O365 business since 1999.

Some of our past adventures include our own e-commerce platform, a comprehensive LMS, online debt settlement software and a plethora of other website functionality.

Since devoting time to SharePoint and Power BI in 2012, I've been fortunate to work with a wide range of clients that all share one goal, make their intranet and information easy, fast and only enter the data one time.

I believe Microsoft did us all a huge favor by including SharePoint in the base O365 offerings as this has opened up access to small and medium sized companies, providing an endless lineup of clients.

While most of my work is special projects, I have a number of clients that retain my services on a retainer basis as their house SharePoint "guy".

Most important, I love solving the hard puzzles of complex workflows, processes and am finding FLOW to be a critical piece of that solution!

Welcome and so glad to have you.

I'm new to Flow but it seems to really have potential.  One question, is there any consideration to giving us the ability to organize Flows into folders under 'my flows' and 'team flows'?  Now it is just one long list of Flows and I would like to see a way to organize them.

    Thank you,

    Hi Mike,

This isn't possible right now in the Flow Maker portal.  Try https://flowstudio.app which is a tool that I've been building which does offer metadata-filtered grouping of your Flows.

There are advanced features for more complex tasks that requires a subscription, but the metadata filtering is in the free tier.

    Enjoy - john

Vote for this suggestion in the Flow Community. It is one of several with a request to be able to organize the My Flows view.

    Hello everyone!

My name is Derek and I have been using Flow for about 6 - 8 months. I have been using SharePoint with SPD for about 6 years now. I attended the North American SharePoint conference last year and that is where I was introduced to flow.  I work full time for a local government that currently are on-prem SharePoint. We will be moving to O365 sometime next year. I started my own business doing SharePoint online and flow work. This has allowed me to learn a tremendous amount of knowledge with SharePoint online and MS Flow.

Greetings, FlowUG! My name is Chad Kealey and I'm a "Collaboration Specialist" at Drexel University in Philadelphia. I've been with the University since 2001, holding a variety of jobs & roles from help desk to online learning to (for the last couple years) Office 365 evangelist.

I've worked with SharePoint 2003, 2007 and 2010 and spent a huge amount of time developing processes and solutions with InfoPath and SharePoint Designer. The capabilities available in PowerApps and Flow are such a huge leap forward it's almost a full time job just getting up to speed.

I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of the community here, picking people's brains and sharing/helping where I can. I have no formal training as a developer, programmer or system administrator, but I am an avid tinkerer and have way more patience than the average person for solving logic problems.

I am a flow enthusiast since I made my first flow. We create collaborative workplaces using Office 365 for small and medium size businesses in Switzerland. And my aim is to help organizations design a smart workplace. One of my main use cases with flow is managing documents with more or less complex approval and publishing scenarios. It's quite easy comparing to other workflow engines.
